From Galactic Patrol Wiki
Space Battle is initiated by any player issuing a challenge to another player, by game mail, to Space Battle. The player who is challenged has the choice of accepting the challenge and of nominating a time for the battle to commence, or of refusing to accept the challenge. If the time is not suitable to the challenger then it is up to the players to agree on a suitable time. If the players cannot agree on a suitable time then either player can ask a staff member to nominate a time. electing the number of spacecraftcan accept the challenge and nominate the number [but not the type] of Spacecraft to be involved [excluding Space Mines] or refuse battle.
Battle Objects and Rules 1. The objects of Space Battle segment are to: - • destroy the opponents Space Base - this constitutes a win • destroy all of the enemies spacecraft - this constitutes a win • force the enemy to surrender - this constitutes a surrender • game ends in a draw (rule 26) - this constitutes a draw
2. The spacecraft are divided into 9 categories, each with its own specific characteristics of movement, attacking power and defensive power. 3. In addition to spacecraft, each player can position 3 space mines on the grid. These are small and are intended to be indistinguishable from background stars. 4. The game will occur on an invisible grid of 9 rows and 13 columns. See attachment called War Room". 5. The background of will consist of a photograph of space comprised of coloured stars and some dust. 6. Space Battle will take place on a control page called "War Room" which is attachment 1. Any player possessing a Star Base plus 8 other spacecraft can issue a Battle Challenge and enter the War Room. 7. A dropdown of the space craft possessed by the player will enable them to select and position the space craft subject to the rules below. This is completed before the game begins. Neither player will know the disposition of the opponent's spacecraft until the game begins. No changes can be made to the positioning of the spacecraft and mines once the game has begun. 8. The challenger will always play the left side of the battle grid and the defender the right side. 9. Each player must place their space base on square 5 of the rear column. Other spacecraft can be placed on any other squares in the rear two ranks - 1 and 2 and 12 and 13 respectively. 10. Mines are placed anywhere on ranks 4 - 10 inclusive. 11. The defender makes the first move. Each move consists of: - • Moving 1 spacecraft to a new position horizontally, vertically or diagonally; and/or • Firing 1 shot horizontally, vertically or diagonally in any direction from any craft 12. A move occurs when a spacecraft is moved by cursor to a new square, a firing craft and target selected, and the "Fire" button activated. The move and firing do not have to be by the same craft. 13. The game continues with each player taking turns until one of the objects of the game is achieved. 14. Each shot will appear as a line moving from the firing craft to the target. 15. When the amount of damage sustained by a craft exceeds the shielding capacity of a craft, the next shot will destroy the craft. 16. The destruction of all craft except for the space base shall appear as a sudden disintegration of the craft. 17. The destruction of the space base shall appear as a glowing of the space base followed by an atomic type explosion. 18. The timer situated at the top of the war Room page allows each player 1 minute per move. Any move or part of a move not completed within the time limit of 1 minute is forfeited. 19. We will supply the spacecraft. 20. Mines are small and difficult to see and are exploded by a spacecraft landing on or crossing over their position. 21. Shots cause damage to any space craft they hit including your own. 22. Spacecraft will continue when their shots are expended. Shields will block shots until they are rendered ineffective. Once a spacecraft's shield is inactive any shot will destroy. 23. The closer a spacecraft is to the craft at which it is firing, the greater will be the damage caused. Power of shots is reduced by 10% per square between attacked and defender. 24. Attackers spacecraft are mainly blue and Defenders mainly red. 25. Each player will have up to 1 minute per move. When move is completed the opponent can then play. Prior to the 1 minute time-up the Green Light will flash a warning for 5 seconds. If no move is made within 1 minute, that move is forfeited. 26. Once a battle is commenced it cannot be postponed for any reason. If a player cannot continue this shall be considered as a surrender by the player who is unable to continue. 27. In the event that all remaining spacecraft on both sides have expended their firing capacity, then the game shall terminate and be declared a draw. 28.
