Galactic Patrol is a fantasy role-playing on-line game (RPG) written by Robert Hynes, designed and coded by Mark Hynes and with David Hynes as Systems Engineer and Game-master. Galactic Patrol was first developed in 2006 by HoBo Games Corporation and is both text-based and graphical in content. Development of the game is planned to continue with the addition of new features including further graphical segments and the expansion of the number and variety of Home Planets and Adventure Planets. The game is set in the Milky Way Galaxy in the near future where players create characters who embark upon imaginary adventures within a fantasy setting. These characters interact with each other and with the settings and their inhabitants to solve dilemmas, engage in individual and group battles, live politics, form alliances and gather treasure, assets and knowledge. In the process the players earn experience points to become increasingly powerful as the game progresses. Galactic Patrol departs from traditional multi-player games by creating a viable galactic community of individuals living in a virtual reality galaxy where the roles available in everyday existence, together with those unique to Galactic Patrol, are available to players. Galactic Patrol intends to generate a worldwide community of players united by a commonality of dedication to on-line games.
