Galactic Patrol is set in Milky Way Galaxy, which is believed to be more than 13 billion years old, virtually as old as the entire Universe itself. The Milky Way Galaxy is one of billions of Galaxies contained within the Universe, although very little is currently known about its seemingly infinite galactic counterparts. To date there has been no contact with life forms existing outside the Milky Way Galaxy. The Milky Way Galaxy has a massive circumference of roughly 250-300 thousand light years! Within the main body of the Milky Way Galaxy there are estimated to be between 200 and 400 billion Stars.
Until very recently, various life-forms which had developed on various suitable Planets and Moons throughout the Milky Way Galaxy , were unaware of the estistance of one another. The rapid independant developments in science and technology on each of the ten Home Planets, resulted in the development of galactic travel from the 21st century onwards and the reasization that other intelligent life-forms existed in the galaxy. The discovery of Space Warps, the invention of the Anti-Matter Propulsion Process (APP), the advent of 4th Dimensional Travel, and various other ongoing scientific discoveries, enabled explorers, traders and other adventurers, to venture forth from their respective home planets and to begin to explore the Milky Way Galaxy.
Hand in hand with the mutual discovery of the ten Home Planets came political ambitions, crime and corruption in all their various forms. The discovery of other Planets rich in gold, silver, diamonds and many other precious and non precious commodities attracted planatary governments, corporations and individual adventurers alike. And waiting to prey on this new wealth followed the pirates, thieves, robbers, claim-jumpers and con-artists.
By reason of differences in racial personalities and characteristics some Home Planets and their inhabitants were more driven by the prospects of acquiring power and great wealth than others. Planets such as Earth and Vulcan tended to carry out extensive exploration programs with the duel aims of discovering new sources of wealth and also of colonising planets and providing good government. Their aims were based both on self interest and a genuine desire to assist primative planets to advance by trade and industrialization. Other Home Planets, in particular Mordor and Alpha were also interested in acquiring power and wealth but the extent of their involvement with primative planets did not appear to extend beyond self-interest.
Gradually two mutually antagonistic and hostile alliances began to take shape. One based on Vulcan and later on Earth, came to be known as The Galactic Patrol Alliance. This alliance was named after The Galactic Patrol, an inter-galactic police force originally commissioned to fight crime throughout the Milky Way Galaxy, but which gradually assumed military and government powers over the the menbers of their alliance. The second alliance, called the Overlords Alliance, is based on Mordor and is a form of inter-planetory dictatorship controlled by the Overlords.
