Kongo
Kongo is a young planet situated in the Outlands Star Cluster i.e. one which contains seven suns. {see Galactic Chart}. Kongo was discovered when a Racecraft piloted by one Colonel Lola T'eff, whose station was Samara, and which was fitted with a newly developed 4th Dimensional Navigation Computer, much to the colonel's suprise and discomfort exited from a Portal under a shallow lake on Kongo. Upon exiting her Racecraft she was set upon by an angry bear whose hibernation she had disturbed.
During the following period of 6 months Colonel T'eff gained first hand knowledge, often painfully and unexpectedly obtained, of the wide diversity of animals thriving on Kongo. Constantly chased by the local inhabitants the colonel also experienced first hand the widely varied climatic zones that makes Kongo an ideal home to a wide diversity of animal species peculiar to each specific climatic zone.
When eventually rescued by deep space Zircon prospectors, she was found not guilty of desertion by The Overlords Alliance and resumed his duties on Samara where he wrote a best selling book titled: Kongo Adventures.
Kongo has the following climatic Zones:
Jungle A region of consistently high temperatures throughout the year and with a high annual rainfall. This region is covered in dense trees and vegetation which almost completely blocks sunlight from reaching the ground. This jungle region contains a wide diversity of animals, birds and reptiles.
Frozen Wastes The opposite of Jungle, Frozen Wastes has sub zero temperatures all year. This region is home to certain animals which have managed to develop special characteristics such as thick fur that enable them to survive in this harsh environment.
Everglades This is an area of sub-tropical wetlands which is home to many aquatic and amphibious creatures. Hunters or collectors wishing to access this area can only do so by boat.
Savanna is an area of wide, open, grassy plains, crossed by frequent rivers and creeks, and with isolated stands of trees. Savanna is home to herds of grazing animals and the predators who follow and hunt them.
High Plains is an area which comprises a large, flat plateau at an elevation of 5,000 metres above sea level. It has abundant grasses but trees are small and stunted. It supports a wildlife population that is well adapted to the prevailing conditions.
Billabong This is the name given to a dry, arid region, situated below sea level. During the infrequent rainy periods deep waterholes and rocky catchments fill with water which lasts until the next heavy rain. These waterholes support a class of animals unique to this region.
The Galactic Princess space liners make regular journeys to Kongo.
Many hunters and collectors make the journey to Kongo for the adventure of a lifetime. They go there to enjoy the challenges of the hunt. Many others go there to capture animals for sale in the Exotic Pet Market on the Adventure Planet Vogue.
Exotic Animals captured on Kongo are kept as pets, entered in Pet Shows on Vogue and sold in the Exotic Pet Market.
