Old Empire

Old Empire refers to the period of Milky Way Galaxy history which immediately followed the breaking of the Tarus/Vega siege of Vulcan by Earth's Space Marshall Nils Larsen in contravention of his orders from Fleet Control. Admiral Nils had been ordered to deliver a load of weapons to Vulcan to assist Vulcan in its struggle against a joint Tarus/Vega War Fleet. Nils assessed the situation as critical and launched a full Fleet attack on the agressors, breaking their formations and forcing them to retreat.

The breaking of the siege was followed by the formation of a military and political alliance between Vulcan and Earth which they called "The Empire". The first undertaking of the Empire was a joint attack upon the Vegans in retaliation for the earlier attack by Vega and Tarus upon Vulcan. This Battle Fleet was intercepted by a War Fleet comprised of battlecraft from Vega, Tarus and Mordor in the region of the Dark Stars System.

The ensuing battle lasted only 2 days and ended in a draw. Both fleets suffered heavy damage. This was followed by a prolonged period of relative peace in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Empirical aspirations of Vulcan and Earth died with those lost in the battle.
