Planets, as defined by the Galactic Astronomical Union (GAU), are celestial bodies orbiting stars or stellar remnants that are massive enough to be rounded by their own gravity, but not massive enough to cause thermonuclear fusion in their core, and has cleared their neighbouring region of planetesimals.
