The most important means of advancement in Galactic Patrol is by advancing in Rank. Every new player must choose to join one of the oposing alliances - the Overlords or The Galactic Patrol. Those who choose the Overlords will start with the rank of pick-pocket, whilst those who join The Galactic Patrol will start with the rank of cleaner.

Advancement in GP is by playing the game and utilizing all features available to you according to your current Rank. As you rise in rank new activities will become available to you. Once you reach Rank 50 or higher, of Chairman Overlords, or Space Marshall The Galactic Patrol, you are eligible to challenge for the position of Galactic Emperor.
